BUXTON – Buxton Police say a suspect is at large after committing an armed robbery at a local store.

Police say it happened at Low’s Variety on Main St. just after 6 p.m. The suspect was wearing a dark jacket with a black ski-mask and olive colored pants.

After pointing what appeared to be a gun at the cashier, police say the suspect took off on a bicycle with a significant amount of money. Police believe the suspect jumped off the bike when they heard sirens approaching.

Main St. was closed for two hours because of the large police presence.

Buxton police responded to the incident with assistance from Maine State Police and the Old Orchard K-9 unit.

Authorities are still actively investigating the situation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Buxton police.
