A Calais man was killed early Wednesday in a head-on collision.
Police responded to the crash on Route 9 in Crawford around 5:20 a.m. They said a passenger vehicle being driven by 63-year-old Bruce Pierce crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a tractor-trailer that was hauling logs.
Pierce died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 59-year-old Kenneth Stairs of Greenbush, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The road was closed for several hours while State Police investigated the crash.
