Riding the ferry in Casco Bay could get more expensive as the ferry line considers a 21 percent increase for passenger fares.

The increase would apply to the peak-season ticket price, marking the second increase in the last few years.

It calls for an increase in round-trip adult tickets from $14 to $17 starting in June.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the transit district says the increase is aimed at reducing their operating deficit.

A public workshop on the proposal will be held on April 8.
