Investigators say the cause of a fatal fire in Stonington is still unclear because of how much damage it caused.

71-year-old David Crutcher was found dead at his home on Fifield Point in August. Only the foundation and a chimney were left standing after flames consumed the home.

According to the Bangor Daily News, investigators tracked the cause down to liquid propane tanks outside the home that exploded, but they don’t know what caused the explosion. They also suspect there was ignitable liquid at the home which caused the flames to spread quickly.

Officials say they don’t suspect any foul play.
