CDC confirms first person to be tested for coronavirus in Maine

Maine’s Center for Disease Control says one person is being tested for coronavirus in the state.

The CDC said Monday that there are no confirmed cases of the virus in Maine, and the risk to the public remains low. The person voluntarily agreed to stay home in accordance with CDC guildelines.

The CDC says tests results typically take one to five days to become available.

Maine CDC director Nirav Shah says the vast majority of coronavirus test results in the U.S. have come back negative.

He suggests Mainers continue to stay home if they’re sick, practice good hygiene, and share their recent travel history with their doctor if they experience any symptoms, including fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
