The Maine CDC today reported the second and third deaths of individuals who tested positive for coronavirus.

This comes after the first death in the state was reported on Friday, bringing the total to three.

The two people, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 60s, were both from Cumberland County and had been hospitalized at the time of their deaths.

Governor Janet Mills confirmed that one of those individuals, the man in his 60s was a long-time employee of the Maine Department of Transportation. Due to privacy laws, Maine CDC is limited in releasing further details. However, based on the employee’s travel history, and the fact that he did not return to work after his vacation, Maine CDC reports that risk to other Maine DOT employees is extremely low.

The Maine CDC currently reports 253 positive tests for coronavirus in the state.
