WORCESTER, Massachusetts (AP)  Charges against a former Portland police officer, who was arrested in Massachusetts earlier this year, have been dismissed.

Police said Zahra Munye Abu was escorted out of the Palladium on Jan. 13 after she grabbed the head of security and refused to leave.

She was charged with several misdemeanors including assault and battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Abu was a member of the Portland Police Department at the time of her arrest, but resigned as an officer earlier this month.

According to our info partners at Channel 8, the Worcester District Court Clerk’s office said two charges against Abu were dismissed and two were continued without finding.

Abu was the first member of Portland’s Somali population to become a Maine police officer.
