A man from Chelsea who called police claiming to have been shot has now been summonsed for making a false public report or alarm.

The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call on Wellman Road around 7:45 Monday morning. 59-year-old Dean Ouelette told the dispatcher he had been shot in the leg by someone in the woods.

Police say they found no evidence of anyone else in the area at the time, only finding a revolver at the scene. They determined that the single gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
