State inspectors were notified after a child was injured on an amusement park ride in Old Orchard Beach on Saturday.

The fire department was called to Palace Playland around 6 p.m. to a report of an injured person.

Shannon Moss with Maine Public Safety says the 10-year-old boy was on the SuperStar ride when the incident occurred. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The department confirmed the Fire Marshal’s Office has opened an investigation.

Investigators inspected the ride and said it passed inspection.
