Classes Tuesday at Scarborough High School were cancelled after a “serious threat” was reported to police.

A student reported the threat made by text late Monday night to the Scarborough Police Department.

School officials said “we applaud the student who came forward to report the situation.”

In a message to parents, school leaders said “the situation continues to be investigated by school authorities and law enforcement.”

The message also said “the safety of our students and staff is of primary concern, and any threats of violence are taken very seriously.”

Students and staff were told to stay home Tuesday.

All after-school activities were also cancelled.
