WATERVILLE, Maine (WGAN) Colby College is joining a growing list of colleges in Maine and around the country in moving to online-only classes to finish out the semester.

The move comes as the number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. continues to rise, with the 1st case confirmed in Maine on Thursday.

Colby College students will not be returning to the school’s campus in Waterville after the 2-week spring break, and are being asked to move out by Sunday March 15th.

The move comes after both Bowdoin College and the UMaine system also told students not to return to campus after spring break. Students there will also finish the semester’s classes with remote learning.

In a statement sent out Thursday afternoon, Southern Maine Community College in South Portland said they will extend spring break by another week.
