The fall sports season at Maine’s schools got the green light in a key vote this week.

The Maine Principal’s Association’s Interscholastic Management Committee made the announcement Thursday, following a recommendation to allow fall sports by the MPA’s Sports Medicine Committee the day before.

Individual school districts and local leaders will get the final say.

The Sports Medicine Committee recommended the implementation of unique health and safety guidelines for each sport.

Districts that plan to proceed with fall sports can decide to call them off at any time in the event of a coronavirus outbreak.
