Part of a busy road in Yarmouth will be closed this weekend.

A section of Main Street under the old Route 1 bridge will be shut down as construction crews work to destroy the bridge.

The Maine Department of Transportation said no motor vehicles nor pedestrians are allowed to pass through the construction zone from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.

The Portland Press Herald reports the bridge replacement project will take another year to finish, but will feature a new sidewalk and improved lighting once it’s all done.
