PORTLAND, Maine (BANGOR DAILY NEWS) The spread of coronavirus could impact the arrival of cruise ships in Portland, where the busy tourist season is coming up.

The Bangor Daily News reports the cruise ship Amsterdam was scheduled to stop in Singapore, where over a hundred cases of COVID-19 were reported. A spokesperson for the cruise line says the ship will no longer be stopping there.

That ship is set to arrive in Portland on May 30th, bringing 2,200 passengers. As for whether it will cancel those plans as well, the cruise line says it’s still too early to make adjustments that far out.

62 passengers were quarantined on the Grand Princess cruise ship off the coast of California, where passengers reported symptoms and a 71-year-old man had died. Officials were awaiting test results from the ship on Friday.
