Couple charged following theft at Buxton store

A Lyman woman called police on Monday claiming she had been carjacked, but security video uncovered by investigators tells a different story.

According to CBS 13 News, 35-year-old Devan Goodson told police she picked up a hitchhiker in Buxton and brought him to a store. She says he ran out with two bottles of Fireball Whiskey, then got in the car, pulled out a knife, and ordered her to drive off. He then left the scene. He was identified as 33-year-old Christopher Brosius.

Police reviewed security footage from the store and found that Goodson appeared to be a participant in the theft. She later admitted that Brosius is her fiancé.

Police charged Goodson with filing a false report and Brosius was charged with theft.
