Crews respond to fire at Topsham scrap metal business

The Topsham Fire Dept. says a scrap metal business caught on fire Thursday night.

It broke out shortly after 8 p.m. at Grimmel Industries on Recycle Drive.

When crews arrived, they found a pile of debris that was about 30 feet high and actively on fire.

The fire chief says they received mutual aid from several communities, including Brunswick and Freeport.

According to CBS 13, around 30-40 firefighters were on the scene at various points throughout the night.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
