Crews Spent 5 Hours in Frigid Weather Battling Fire in Bucksport

Firefighters spent five hours in frigid cold weather battling a building fire in Bucksport overnight Monday morning.

The Orland Fire Department says it was assisted by four other departments  – from Bucksport, Orrington, Penobscot, and Castine – in battling the fire on Foss Farm Road.

Crews say they faced significant challenges, including freezing temperatures, limited resources, and a long distance from the nearest water supply.

Investigators have not released the cause of the overnight fire in Bucksport.

The Orland department says it was a record 152nd call they’ve received this year.

Firefighters said they returned to the station after refueling our trucks to let them thaw out a bit. They say the last firefighter left the station about 5:45 Monday morning after being called to the scene at about 10:51 pm Sunday.
