PORTLAND (WGME) – A group of cyclists are trying to put the wheels in motion to build more housing in Maine.

Nearly 30 cyclists finished a ride Thursday all the way from Oregon to raise money to build and repair homes.

They finished the approximately 4,000-mile long journey in North Windham.

On Friday, the cyclists helped the Sebago Lakes Region Fuller Center for Housing in the rehabilitation of seven homes in the area.

One of them is for John Gregiore, who’s had ALS for more than ten years. Fuller Center volunteers are building him a safe porch so he can go outside with his wheelchair.

“It’s great for us to have this much exposure for sure,” said Jim McBride, who works on the board for Sebago Fuller Housing. “ It will help to get the word out about what we’re trying to do here in the community.”

The cyclists finished their ride Saturday in Portland
