One woman was killed and another was seriously injured in two separate pedestrian-involved crashes in Lewiston on Wednesday.

The Sun Journal reports crews were called to East Avenue and Lisbon Street around 4:30 p.m. to a report of a woman who had been hit by a pickup truck. The victim did not survive. The driver was cooperating with police. Drugs, alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors.

At the same time, crews responded to another report of a pedestrian hit by a car on Park Street in front of Simone’s hot dog stand and restaurant. The woman suffered a head injury and was listed in serious condition at Central Maine Medical Center.

The identities of those involved in both crashes were not immediately released.

Police said poor visibility from a drizzle appeared to be a factor in both crashes.
