Death of three-year-old under investigation in Lincoln County

The death of a three-year-old in Midcoast Maine is under investigation.

Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:30 a.m. on Christmas to a report that a child at a home on Rt. 1 in Edgecomb was not breathing.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the chiild was pronounced dead after being taken to Miles Memorial hospital in Damariscotta.

The Maine State Police major crimes unit was contacted, standard procedure for all child deaths in Maine.

As of Tuesday morning, an autopsy had been performed but the cause of death was still being withheld at the request of the Attorney General’s Office.
