Members of Maine’s Congressional delegation released statements Thursday after former President Donald Trump was indicted in a case related to hush money payments.

Congressman Jared Golden said, “No one is above the law.”

Golden said, “Our legal system is built upon the principle of innocence until proven guilty, and we should let the process play out without bias or political interference.”

A statement from Maine Senator Angus King said, “Under our system, the next steps place a heavy burden on the prosecution-to prove the charges (whatever they may be) beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree made similiar comments and said she will condemn any statement that could incite political violence.

A lawyer for the former President said Trump will likely surrender Tuesday.
