A Portland restaurant was unable to weather the financial hardships of the pandemic, and announced Friday that it will permanently close.

Drifters Wife located on Washington Avenue in Portland has been in operation for five years, but will shutter their doors. However, Owners, Orenda and Peter, will continue to offer contact-free, curbside pick-up at their wine shop, Maine & Loire.

The owners said in their statement on Facebook that they plan to “re-imagine” the inside, and create a new space “where [people] can gather closely with loud music, and share a drink.”
