Driver charged in fatal hit-and-run that left bicyclist dead in Scarborough

Police have identified the driver accused in a fatal hit-and-run in Scarborough last month.

50-year-old Howard Gribbin was struck by a car while riding his bicycle near Southgate Road and Route 1 around 4:15 a.m. on June 27.

The driver then fled the scene.

Gribbin succumbed to his injuries at Maine Medical Center.

In an update on Wednesday, Scarborough police said they located the vehicle of 69-year-old Saran Sun, who was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The investigation is still ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Tim Barker at 207-730-4303.
