Driver charged with drug trafficking following traffic stop in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) A driver who was stopped by police in Augusta is charged with OUI and drug trafficking.

Maine State Police say the person, whose name has not been released, was driving a pick-up truck in Augusta on Tuesday when they were stopped for a registration violation. Police said there were signs of criminal activity and indications that the driver was under the influence.

Police then searched the vehicle and found about 2 ounces of cocaine.

Police are still investigating.
