Driver crossed into path of dump truck in fatal Waldo County crash, police say

Maine State Police say a crash in Morrill involving a dump truck left one man dead.

34-year-old Nicholas Day of Belmont was driving down Route 3 a little before 8 a.m. Wednesday. An investigation revealed that he crossed the center line and went into the path of an oncoming loaded dump truck. He died at the scene.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Police did not provide details about the condition of the truck’s driver.

Route 3 was shut down for about 8 hours.
