Driver seriously hurt in crash on Route 1 in Scarborough

Police responded to a crash in Scarborough that left one person with serious injuries.

The crash involving a pickup truck and a small car was reported around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Route 1 and Pleasant Hill Road. Police said the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver and passenger of the pickup were not injured.

Part of Route 1 was closed for more than two hours while police reconstructed the crash.

No further details have been released.
