Drought prompts ban of outdoor water use in South Berwick

A Maine town has placed a ban on outdoor water use amid a drought in the area.

The South Berwick Water District says the use of everything from hoses, sprinklers and irrigation systems to fountains and pools is banned. The ban also includes, but isn’t limited to, the use of water for the washing of streets and driveways, cars, or watering plants.

It’s not yet clear how long the ban will last.

In it’s update last week, the U.S. Drought Monitor said the state was experiencing a moderate drought, with parts of the state seeing severe drought conditions.
