The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is commending a deputy for preventing a drunk driving situation in Raymond Saturday afternoon.

According to CBS 13, police pulled a car over on Webbs Mills Road shortly after it had begun driving and arrested 44-year-old Susan Brown on an OUI charge.

The Sheriff’s office says that during the arrest, the passenger, 42-year-old Mark Whittaker, attempted to drive away after learning the car would be towed.

Police say the deputy had to forcefully remove Whittaker from the car, who had a suspended license and was highly intoxicated.

Whittaker has been charged with Refusing to Submit to Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.
