Dump Truck Snags Power Lines in Bar Harbor, Causing Outages, Closures

Some utility customers in central Bar Harbor were dealing with outages Monday night after a dump truck dropping off material at a worksite became entangled with power lines.

The Bar Harbor Mount Desert Police Department says a dump truck snagged power lines on Cottage Street in Bar Harbor, causing several utility poles and wires to break.

Utility crews are on scene and working to fix the damage and open the roadway. The estimated time for the repair was 12 to 14 hours.

Police Department said the damaged poles forced closures at the intersections of Mount Desert Street and Eden Street, Cottage Street and Eden Street, and West Street and Eden Street.  Versant Power was on the scene making repairs as of 6 pm Monday.
