Dysart’s tanker truck crashes on I-95 in Wells

A Dysart’s tanker truck went off the road and struck several small trees Monday morning. It happened on Interstate 95 southbound in Wells just before 7 a.m.

The Maine Dept. of Public Safety said in a press release that the truck was being operated by James Naaykens, 51, of Medway. The department said Naaykens was not injured in the accident.

The tank the truck was hauling was empty, but approximately 55 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the truck’s fuel tank onto the road.

The Department of Environmental Management was called to the scene.

The press release didn’t include information about the cause of the accident.

The release, issued at 9:40 a.m., said one lane was expected to remain closed for a couple of hours.
