BRIDGEWATER, Maine (WGAN) State Police say an Easton man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a 79-year-old man’s death in Bridgewater.
Police say the Penobscot County Communications Center got a 911 call around 6 p.m. Wednesday night from Paul Hilenski’s home on Boundary Line Road in Bridgewater. The call was forwarded to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, who responded and found Hilenski’s body inside.
Police have arrested 37-year-old James Peaslee in connection with the death.
Peaslee was found around 1 a.m. while driving on West Ridge Road in Easton, according to State Police spokesman Steve McCausland.
“He’s from Easton and I think they were looking for him and Easton is not that large of a community, so they came across him as he was driving,” McCausland said.
Few other details have been released about the case.
“We’re still doing interviews, there will be a court appearance here either today or tomorrow and the Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to report in,” McCausland said. “There’s a lot of information at this point we’re not talking about publicly, but it will come out eventually.”
McCausland said the two men did know each other.
Later today, members of the Maine State Police – Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Response Team will be searching the Hilenski residence in Bridgewater and Peaslee’s home on the Station Road in Easton.
An autopsy on Hilenski will take place at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
