Following a nearly eight hour standoff in Presque Isle, a man is facing numerous charges.

Corey Alexander is being charged with violating conditions of release, domestic violation terrorizing, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, creating a police stand-off and resisting to submit to arrest.

In an attempt to apprehend Alexander for a bail violation and domestic violence terrorizing, police responded to an apartment on South Street. Police say Alexander made several threats towards law enforcement that he would be leaving in a “body-bag” if police showed up to arrest him.

Presque Isle Police and Aroostook County Sheriff’s arrived to the scene around 1:00 p.m. Alexander presented a knife to officers through the glass window of his apartment door.

This triggered police to evacuate people from surrounding homes and businesses while negotiating with Alexander over the phone.

Maine State Police Negotiations Team was able to successfully talk Alexander into coming outside and surrendering peacefully by 9:30 p.m.
