A missing elderly man in far northern Maine has been found safe.

Stanley Flagg, 81, had been missing since Sunday morning.

The Maine Warden Service says Flagg was found deep in the woods in Fort Kent Tuesday afternoon.

Game wardens said he was shoeless, dehydrated and disoriented when he was found more than a mile from his home.

The elderly man was unsure about how he got there, or how long he had been in the woods.

Fifteen game wardens, K9s and one warden service airplane led the search.

Nearly 30 volunteers also looked for the man, including members of the organization Maine Search and Rescue Dogs.
