An elderly woman from Arundel was rescued after her house caught fire early Sunday morning.

According to CBS 13, crews were called to her home on Limerick Rd. shortly after 2 a.m.

The dispatcher who spoke to the woman on the phone said the woman has a disability and couldn’t leave the burning home on her own.

Before crews arrived, the dispatcher told her to stay low to the ground and reassured her that help was on the way.

Fire officials say the woman suffered smoke inhalation but was otherwise okay.

They believe the fire began in the basement, but the cause remains under investigation.
