Ellsworth’s police chief has been removed after a unanimous city council vote on Monday night.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Glenn Moshier had been serving as police chief and city manager of Ellsworth. He was placed on leave from the police chief position in late December, then placed on leave from the city manager position last week. City leaders have not disclosed the reason for the decision.

A new city manager is expected to start on April 1, but a contract has to be approved by the council before he begins.

The council voted to appoint Deputy Chief Troy Bires as interim police chief.
