Maine was ranked the most-improved state in the nation for energy efficiency in a new study.
The study conducted by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy ranked Maine fifth overall for energy efficiency, behind California, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.
The study praised Maine’s steps toward climate leadership, particularly within the buildings sector.
It pointed to the state’s legislation requiring new affordable housing and other projects funded by the state housing authority to be all-electric and include electric vehicle charging.
