The family of a maintenance worker who was critically injured in a blast in Farmington last September is suing two Maine companies.

Larry Lord suffered burns over 85% of his body in the propane explosion at the LEAP Inc. building. Lord was in the basement of the building that day when he smelled propane and helped evacuate employees who were inside.

Lord’s family is suing Techno Metal Post Maine for a Dig Safe Violation. A worker had installed a metal post that punctured a gas line on the property. The company was already fined $1,000.

The suit also alleges that CN Brown was negligent when a technician failed to conduct a leak check on the propane tank when it was refilled. That technician has been fined $1,300 and had his license suspended for 15 days.

Fire Captain Michael Bell was killed in the blast and several other firefighters were injured.
