Fat Boy drive-in is open for the season in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK (WGME)— Fat Boy in Brunswick is back open for the season.

The long-standing burger joint that started in the 50s opened for its 67th season Friday, serving up the usual classics like burgers and onion rings.

The drive-in restaurant is a snapshot in time from the rise of automobiles and drive-in movies and diners.

Fat Boy survived the pandemic and changed ownership, but the Brunswick icon is keeping its traditions alive in more ways than one.

“A couple that got engaged here 50 or so years ago on opening day, they’ve been coming here every day since,” Fat Boy Owner Mike Jerome said. “Kids who came here who are now my age who came here as children, employees who’ve worked here are all local, and they’ve been coming to Fat Boy since they were kids.”

Fat Boy is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and they’re closed Wednesdays.
