A fatal fire occurred early Saturday morning in Buxton according to The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.

First responders received a call just before 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning to respond to 23 Mary Jane Road for a structure fire.

Fire Marshals have confirmed that one period has died. The identity of the person is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Buxton Fire and Police departments responded to the scene, along with The State Fire Marshal’s Office. The investigation continues, and they hope to release additional information late Sunday.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
