No one was hurt when a ferry service out of Vinalhaven ran aground Wednesday morning.

The Maine Department of Transportation says the Captain Richard G. Spear was pulling away from Vinalhaven around 10:30 Wednesday morning when it hit a ledge.

70 people were on board but no one was hurt. Transportation officials said damage to the vessel does not appear to be significant.

MaineDOT says the ferry was taken to a private marina in Rockland to be inspected.
