Fire Destroys Equestrian Barn in Naples

All the horses are reportedly safe and unharmed after a three-alarm fire destroyed a barn in Naples on Thursday.

Numerous fire departments were sent to the scene at the Meadowbrook Equestrian Center on Harrison Road, including the Casco and Sebago departments.

A portion of  Harrison Road (Route 35) was closed from Lewis Road to Wiley Road during the blaze.

A social media post shortly before 5 pm Thursday from Meadowbrook Equestrian Center said everyone was OK and the horses were not hurt.

Naples Fire Chief Justin Cox told WGAN news partner WGME that he’s concerned about drought conditions.

“It’s been all over the news, Maine is in a drought. All of our fire ponds are dry. We’re going all the way back to Long Lake to get water,” said Cox
