Firefighters responded to a supposed lightning strike that may have caused a fire in Alfred that started Friday morning at 4:30 A.M.

Crews responded to reports of a fire on Mountain road.

CBS 13 reports that the fire crew found the blaze in the basement of a home.

Smoke caused damage to the first and second floors; those inside woke up to the sound of fire detectors going off.

This investigation is still on going and no further information is available at this time.
