Firefighters Extinguish Westbrook Paper Mill Fire

Operations at a Westbrook paper mill are back to normal after a fire on Saturday.

Westbrook Professional Firefighters say they extinguished the fire at the “SAPPI” paper mill.

Crews remained on the scene ventilating smoke and working with plant protection to restore fire protection systems.

They were assisted by the Gorham Fire Department and Portland Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 740, who reportedly covered stations while the Westbrook firefighters fought the fire.
