Firefighters Fix Leaking Railcar in South Portland

A gas leak in South Portland has put one train car out of commission.

The leak at a train yard on Rigby Road was reported around 12:14 a.m. Saturday.

Officials from the South Portland Fire Department said a Pan Am Railway employee smelled propane and called for help. According to our info partners at channel 8, the firefighters found a leaking valve on a railcar and tightened it.

Officials said there was never any danger to the public, nor was there danger of an explosion. AmeriGas is inspecting the train car.
