A Do Not Drink order put in place by the Kennebec Water District after firefighting foam entered the water supply has been lifted.

The district announced that samples collected Tuesday morning found no indication of firefighting foam in the water and that the order was lifted.

Firefighters battled a blaze at a residential building on Elm Street in Waterville on Monday. The foam entered the water district’s distribution system when it fed back through the building’s fire service.

The Do Not Drink order was lifted after staff flushed hydrants within the system.

The water district says all customers should run the water at each tap for 3-5 minutes to flush the lines in their home or business. If there’s any unusual foaming or odor, that flushing time can be increased to 15 minutes.
