Five arrested in Searsport drug bust

An investigation into drug trafficking in Searsport led to charges for five people, including two from Maine.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says the arrests were carried out at two addresses on Dead Brooke Lane over the last two weeks.

They arrested 43-year-old Daniel Carchide and 36-year-old Alyssa Heroux, both from Searsport.

27-year-old Izaiah Cooper, 27-year-old Christopher Babb and 35-year-old Mujaredeen Hassan, all from the Bronx, New York, were also arrested.

Each person was charged with drug trafficking, with agents seizing more than $9,000 in suspected drug proceeds and 10 grams of crack cocaine worth an estimated $2,700.

Carchide, Babb, Heroux and Hassan are being held at Waldo County Jail awaiting their initial court appearance.
