Warren, Maine (WGAN)  Five people have been arrested in Maine’s Mid Coast for selling fentanyl.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says for the last two months, they’ve been investigating the sale of the illicit drug in Knox County.  Agents say they learned members of a family were traveling to New Bedford, Massachusetts several times a week to purchase the drug, which would be resold in Knox and Lincoln counties.

Last Friday, drug agents searched the family’s two homes in Friendship and Warren.

The home in Friendship was on Harbor Road and the one in Warren was on Depot Road.  After the searches, 20 grams of fentanyl, a handgun and $1,800 in suspected drug proceeds were seized, along with other evidence of drug trafficking.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says five members of the same family have been arrested for importing and selling fentanyl in the Mid Coast.
