A former Franklin County prosecutor was sentenced to 2 years of probation and a $2,000 fine for her role in a conspiracy to sell marijuana illegally.

36-year-old Kayla Alves was sentenced on Wednesday, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Alves pleaded guilty in March to federal charges of tampering with documents.

Alves is one of 12 people, including members of law enforcement, who were charged in 2020 for the illegal pot operation that was being run out of Farmington.

The former assistant DA told a Franklin County Deputy sheriff he was under investigation for his role in the conspiracy. She then deleted the text conversation.
