Four Maine Electors to cast votes in Electoral College Monday

AUGUSTA- (WGAN) Electors selected from all 50 states will cast their votes tomorrow at 2 PM when the electoral college meets. The three electors in Maine casting their vote for Joe Biden will be David Bright of Dixmont, eighteen year old high school senior Jay Philbrick of North Yarmouth, and incoming Secretary of State Shenna Bellows of Manchester. The lone elector casting a vote for trump will be former Oxford selectman Peter Laverdiere. While statewide, Biden earned Maine’s popular vote, Donald Trump was victorious in the second congressional district which is why Laverdiere will be casting one vote for the current President.

The event will take place at the state house in Augusta. In previous years, members of the public have been able to attend, however, due to Covid-19, this year it is closed to the public. All four electors will be required to wear masks at the event.
