Police say a man in Franklin County was under the influence when he crashed his SUV into a tree.

Police say 31-year-old Phillip Quezada crashed into a tree off Route 27 in New Sharon on Thursday.

The Sun Journal reports that the Farmington man lost control of the vehicle and crashed just before 5 a.m.

He was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with non-life-threatening injuries.

He was issued a summons on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol.

Police say the man was headed toward Rome when his 2014 Subaru crashed about a mile from the intersection with U.S. Route 2.
